Cruelty-free
above all

Freedom and compassion is the foundation of our company.

Ethically is mandatory!

From every step of the manufacturing to the practices that brings your garment to your closet, we work hard to implement sustainable practices all around.

GOLD WRAP certification

Having a manufacturer GOLD WRAP certified insures fair labor standards, with regular working hours, comfortable work environment and fair wages.

OEKO-TEX®

This seal verifies promises that  no harmful or toxic substances are used making safe for the environment, the workers and our skins to wear. We apply these standards during the production processes to all the items we sell and to all the suppliers with whom we work.

Small Inventories

Our pieces are made in limited quantities sometimes using other production " left overs" to create a recycling chain and eliminate unecessary excess waste.

CARE FOR THE PLANET

Technologies that do good

We are working with manufacturers that are using innovative technologies that not only are able to reduce water consumption in their production processes but also reduce emissions and the use of chemicals in production practices.

Let's talk about fabrics

From natural to engineered, we focus on always taking a sustainable approach

ECO - COTTON

We proudly use Ecologically grown cotton, which means it is grown using natural fertilizers and pesticides and in its cultivation no genetically modified seeds are used which helps preserve seed biodiversity and soil fertility. The Eco-cotton farmers also use a mindful approach as to water consumption and with crop management.

We are introducing recycled cotton in our upcoming collections. This cotton, recovered from post-consumer cotton waste, is sorted by type and color and then processed to break fabric into smaller pieces before pulling them apart into fiber.

ECO- LINEN/FLAX

The production of raw materials is one of the most important steps in the creation of a garment. Therefore, the use of more sustainable natural materials helps us reduce their impact on the environment.

Same as Ecologically Grown cotton, Ecologically Grown Linen is cultivated naturally using natural fertilizers and pesticides, avoiding the use of genetically modified seeds. These processes have a positive impact on the environment and biodiversity compared to regular use of artificial irrigation and modified seeds.

VEGAN LEATHER

Our vegan leather is made of high quality  ECO-polyurethane.

The PU we use is not produced with the toxic levels of chemicals typically found in lower quality PU. They comply with the chemical standards of REACH +  Prop65 (the Californian Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986).

Traditional leather production release polluting chemicals including ammonia and chromium in the form of liquid and solid waste. This results in considerable water pollution. By contrast, innovative manufacturing techniques make polyurethane leather cleaner to make, with less natural resource use and free of animal cruelty.

TENCEL/MODAL

GET TO KNOW OUR FABRICS🌿

Tencel/ Modal is a cellulose fibre which, like cotton and bamboo, is made from plant materials. It is made by dissolving beech wood pulp or eucalyptus wood pulp (from certified and controlled sources & sustainably managed plantations). The manufacturing of Tencel requires less energy and water than cotton. It is also 50% more absorbent than cotton and because it's more breathable and less susceptible to odorous bacteria growth, Tencel is a long lasting healthy choice. As a naturally derived fiber, Tencel is also biodegradable.

Modal and Tencel are considered  luxurious textiles thanks to both its soft feel and its eco-friendly properties.

BAMBOO

GET TO KNOW OUR FABRICS🌿

Soft and lightweight, viscose and rayon fabrics are a silk substitute, as it has a similar drape and smooth feel to the luxury material. Made from various cellulosic fibres, ours is especially made from bamboo. It has exceptional properties such as superior comfort and hand, as well as antimicrobial properties. Since it is classified as a grass, it is one of the world’s most sustainable resources. Bamboo is the fastest growing grass, it can grow up to 119 cm in 24 hours and does not require replanting after harvesting due to the development of a vast root network. The inherent antimicrobial properties of bamboo eliminate the need for pesticides and fertilizers. Because viscose is made from renewable plants, it is environmentally friendly, and sustainable.

RECYCLED POLYESTER (pet)

GET TO KNOW OUR FABRICS🌿

Unlike polyester, recycled polyester uses PET as the raw  material. This is the same material that is used in clear plastic bottles, and recycling it to create the fabric prevents it from going to landfill.

The process of converting plastic bottles into polyester requires about 35-53% less energy and ultimately reduces landfill waste, air and water contamination.

Another benefit of recycled polyester is that it can be recycled again and again  with no degradation of quality, allowing us to minimize wastage and in a close loop system polyester is able to be reused and recycled forever making it the most sustainable option.

We go the extra mile!

Over achiever, maybe? But when it comes to being ethical all aspects have an importance and Blue District think of every way possible to be as green as possible.

Packaging

For online orders we use mailers made of Oxo-biodegradable plastic. It degrades and biodegrades in the open environment in the same way as nature's wastes, only quicker. What's more, it does so without leaving any toxic residues or fragments of plastic behind. They have legislated to make oxo-biodegradable plastic mandatory, because it does not just fragment.

Any physical sales or pickups are delivered in our custom recycled cotton totes.

Paper

When we prints catalogs, coupons, or the packing slips sent to you, it is always of at least 90% a recycled papers. Prints are done with either soy- based ink or water based so both are non toxic.

Our shipping labels are printed using thermal printing so no ink is actually used. No cartridge plastic waste, no toxic ink on your fingers.

Tags & More

Our paper tags are made from recycled craft paper and use a cotton tie or recycled nylon tie.

Our clothing tags are made in USA with a OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, CLASS I certification in an establishment that follow responsible manufacturing and production guidelines.

Our custom tissue paper is made from recycled pulp and is uncoated for the easiest, cleanest decomposition.

As much as we can

Mindful in every way

Because that's how we, as human beings, are supposed to be!
